Bring it on

OK so I never got to write about the Temple game. I was home for the holidays and what with all the eating, family time, and eating I just never got around to it. What is there to say? They played like poop and lost. Hopefully they don’t play like poop again this year, but [...]

Make this happen.

AN APPEAL
To Daryl Gross and Oliver Luck, Esqs.
The Pinstripe Bowl matches up teams from the Big East and Big XII. Please, please make sure it is Syracuse vs. West Virginia.
Just think of it. This was the first season since 1955 that SU and WVU did not meet on the gridiron. 57 years. We can rectify [...]

Big East Conference review, part 2

As promised, here’s the second half of my survey of the Big East “preseason” results. For the first seven teams, see my previous post. This post will cover the exploits of the nine teams predicted by the coaches to finish in the top…uh, eight. I’ll quote myself from the last post to explain [...]

in the market for a closer

Before I write this post — which could be perceived as daring to utter a negative word after a win on the road against a top ten team — let me make it absolutely clear that this team is crazy ill smooth buttah good.  Like, really, really good.  Beyond good; well into the realm of [...]

Gut Check

Well, I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m satisfied. Our best player may have hardly eaten anything in two days, but this win shows the intestinal fortitude of the entire team.

It’s clobberin’ time!

So I pop over to My Yahoo to check my fantasy football team and behold the content that has arrived:

Halleluia and Hail Boeheim! The basketball schedule is complete! To quote a wise philosopher, “Let’s get it started in here.”
The full schedule can be found here. The highlights:
Coaches vs. Cancer in MSG on Nov 19/20. We [...]

Come on now

We’re in the freaking finals. This is nuts.
It’s hard to wax as poetic about last night’s game as the hitsorical epic we witnessed on Thursday night. Ho hum, just one overtime. Admit it — in any other setting, as last night’s game went into OT you’d have been completely excited and nervous and tense and [...]

heart, guts, determination, willpower, desire, effort, and more heart

Despite the heading of this post, there are no words to describe what was on display tonight and this morning at Madison Square Garden. We saw a team grow up and learn to believe. Everything disappointing about this season has been repaired. Everything has been wiped clean. Everything is on the table from here on [...]

Syracusan’s Big East coach of the year: Jay Wright

There are two ways to pick a coach of the year, and neither one is particularly helpful in the Big East this year. Either you pick the one coach who’s team was so overwhelmingly dominant that they clearly did the best job, regardless of whether everyone expected them to win; or you pick the coach [...]

softest team in the Big East?

Giving up 100 points or more in a regulation college basketball game is a humiliating event. Or it should be at any rate. It’s an event so incredibly disheartening and improbable that it should be one of the rarest occasions in the sport. Any modicum of effort on defense by any reasonable collection of half-way [...]
