My two favorite sports are college basketball (obviously) and professional baseball.* (Third place is, if you believe this blog, a tie between college field hockey and Euroleague basketball.) So it’s insanely convenient the way their schedules have grown to complement each other year after blessed year. The World Series always wraps up just as the preseason hoops games are starting; conversely, baseball’s first game is now always on the Sunday after the Final Four games, with the championship game falling on Opening Day. It’s a beautiful symmetry that I appreciate every year. My disappointment at the end of one season is always ameliorated by the excitement surrounding the beginning of the next.
Thus, I only need two wallpapers on my cell phone. The conclusion earlier tonight of the World Series marks the transition, so it’s time to change that background image from this:

Here’s to a sweet season. Let’s go Orange!
*Though as I am a Mets fan, perhaps “professional” isn’t the right adjective here.
