I’m not going to go so far as to call the upset tonight, but I am definitely shifting uncomfortably in my chair at the all-too-possible prospect of the Orange losing to Robert Morris.
RMU went to the Big Dance last season.
RMU has played in the Dome recently (2008 NIT) and won’t be intimidated by the environment.
RMU lost their best player but their starting lineup contains four seniors.
RMU is likely going to play a lot of zone defense on a night when SU may be without its most respected long-range threat.
RMU is an anagram for rum, copious quantities of which I may be consuming later tonight.
The bright side is that we have a decided beef advantage on the front line. Not so much a height advantage, but a weight (and presumably strength) advantage. Our interior passing looked got against Albany early on, before we stopped playing a set half-court offense and started running and gunning off turnovers. If we can turn this game into a defensive slugfest — and get their guys in a bit of foul trouble too — we should have no problems. But if RMU is able to get in a comfort zone, watch out. This has the potential to get ugly. Take nothing for granted, boys. Please.
