I spent this past weekend getting down in Saranac Lake (the town, not in the actual lake). I did take time out to watch the Louisville game, and nearly turned it off early in the 2nd half. I was glad I didn’t, but only marginally glad once the outcome was decided. At that moment I decided that I would go have a good time rather than spend another hour of my weekend vacation writing a blog post about the game. (One time in my life that I was glad not to be Sean Keeley.) And in any case I’m sick of writing the same sorts of things after losses. The script has become far too familiar.
The only thing I want to point out is that Brandon Triche was clearly trying to give a foul at the end of the first half, as Knowles crossed halfcourt. SU had only 4 team fouls to that point. But the crack team of officials* didn’t whistle it, and Knowles therefore got past Brandon and got his open look. I guess it’s on Triche to commit a harder foul, one that impedes the defender if the refs fail to act. Maybe also on Boeheim to tell the refs to look for it. Whether it ultimately mattered to the outcome is debatable, but still.
Anyway. I need SU to win tonight because I have run out of things to say after they lose. Maybe the prospect of enabling me to blog joyfully again will be the motivation they need. Whatever. I’ll be watching this one on tape delay so no Twittering tonight. See you in the morning.
* by “crack team of officials”, I mean that it was obvious the officials were smoking crack.
