My ability to watch early-season SU basketball has been severely limited so far by the thugs at ESPN. They are still “namelessly” producing the TWCS telecasts (as far as I’ve been able to tell) but they are no longer offering them on their video streaming site. Meanwhile the DC-area local cable sports channel MASN — which was a fairly reliable source of live Orange last year — has been declining to show the games either live or on tape, choosing a variety of ridiculous filler programming instead.
This is a roundabout way of saying that I did not see the Colgate game. I wish I could give some deep penetrating analysis of how it went but everything I have learned about it has come from reading other sources which I’m sure you have already seen. So, you won’t get any insights here. Sorry. BUT you can be sure that the Arkansas game will be peeled and dissected to within an inch of its life. I just hope I don’t have to watch too much archival footage of Lawrence Moten calling the timeout we didn’t have. I still remember how painful it felt to have that win in hand only to see it fumbled away by our best player (but I still love ya Poetry!) and can’t begin to imagine what it felt like for the players. What isn’t remembered much is that even after all that went down, SU still had a chance to win the game. Lucious Jackson had a great shot at a last-second 3 to win it, but it just barely rimmed out. Anyway, I want revenge.
