Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first winner!
Thanks to SU’s most recent historic collapse, bracketeer andyhaner scored zero points in the quarterfinals to lock up the last place position in our Bracket Challenge, with a grand total of 13 points out of a possible 62. Andy will win our consolation prize. His was not the only bracket to score zero points in this round — in fact, nearly 20% of the brackets had a completely incorrect final four. Special recognition goes out to bracketeer Moviejace (owner of lucky bracket 69) who had picked the entire elite eight correctly but in each of the four quarterfinal games he picked the losing team. Now that takes talent (and might be worth a nightlight… we’ll see).
Many other folks have already had both their finalists eliminated and thus have maxed out on points. Those are highlighted in magenta. The rest still have a chance to earn some points, though NITPIckers have done just that and have opened up a two-point lead that might end up being the difference, if the rest of their picks pan out. I will say that each of the remaining four teams in the actual NIT was chosen by at least one bracketeer as champions. Also, nobody chose the entire final four correctly.
The current standings can be found here. Next standings update will hopefully be after the semifinal games on Monday, but I’m not promising anything. We now return you to your regularly scheduled disbelief.
